During part 1 of the thread veins course, the delegates have lectures, discussion groups, questions & answers, practical demonstrations and practice:
- anatomy and physiology of thread veins, feeding veins and reticular veins
- clinical examination
- hand held Doppler examination - including demonstration and practical session
- colour flow Duplex ultrasound
- interpretation of test results
- different methods of treatment and choosing the "right method" for the "right vein"
- practice of injecting thread veins using models
- legality of who can treat thread veins
- consent and insurance
- removing trapped blood to reduce brown stains
- compression - including practical session
- marketing and business principles
By the end of part 1, the delegate should have a thorough working knowledge of the subject and should be able to perform the necessary clinical examinations, Doppler examinations and have a working knowledge of how to set up and run a practice - as well as have the principles and some practice of how to treat the veins. They should also be aware of when not to treat and when to refer a client on.
